Liu Chuanzhi and his group of ten experienced engineers together with Danny Lui  officially founded Lenovo in Beijing on November 1, 1984 with 200,000 yuan. The Chinese government approved the incorporation of Lenovo on the same day. Jia Tufa (贾续福), one of Lenovo’s founders, indicated that the first meeting in preparation for starting the company was held on October 17 of the same year. Eleven people participated in the entirety of the initial staff. Each of the founders was a member of the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). 200,000 yuan to be used as start-up capital was approved by Zeng Maochao (曾茂朝). The company whose name was agreed upon in this meeting was the Chinese Academy of Sciences Computer Technology Research Institute New Technology Development Company.
